Analysis on sales of European car companies in June, the future after Brexit is unpredictable

Gasgoo News According to Bloomberg News, following the Brexit referendum in June this year, business and consumer confidence were under pressure and setbacks, and the growth of European car sales slowed in June.

The industry association, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), said in a recent statement that the number of vehicle registrations in the EU and the European Free Trade Association market last month increased by 6.5% from 1.51 million in the same period last year. June is the 34th month of continuous sales growth in the European market, although its growth rate has continued to slow down since March.

Car sales in the first half of this year increased by 9.1%, and sales totaled 8.09 million vehicles.

Last month, the sales of Renault and Fiat-Chrysler were boosted by the increase in demand in the EU market. Other Asian auto brands and European luxury car manufacturers also achieved sales growth.

Among the top ten automakers in the region, Renault saw a high growth rate in June, driven by the sales of its major brands Captur, Kadjar and Espace, and overall sales surged 20% year-on-year.

Fiat Chrysler’s vehicle registrations increased by 13% year-on-year, mainly driven by sales of its Fiat brand (a year-on-year increase of 14%), which has just launched a new Tipo compact car. The sales of Jeep models increased by 16% year-on-year, which also contributed to Fiat Chrysler's sales promotion.

Among many Japanese automakers, Toyota and Lexus’ sales totaled 6.7% year-on-year, while Nissan’s sales fell 2.9%. Sales of Hyundai and Kia in South Korea increased by 13% and 14% respectively.
